Artist BiographiesRuth Le Roux
Ruth Le Roux cultivated her painting practice in the creative environment of the San Francisco Bay Area and is currently based in South Africa. Her abstract paintings distill the essence of landscapes-mountains, rocks, plants, and water-into simplified forms that pulse with quiet energy. Drawing on a childhood spent hiking the mountains of Stellenbosch, South Africa, and years walking the trails of Marin Valley, California, her work reflects a deep attunement to place and presence. She pairs expressive color with meditative mark-making to create layered compositions that invite stillness and reflection.
K'era Morgan
We tell ourselves stories constantly yet this process is largely unconscious. They are reflected in how we live our lives. We constantly pull feedback from the world around us to either validate or inform existing stories or to create new storylines that manifest into reality. K'era Morgan's work is a reflection of this unconscious process. Guided by intuition and a process that focuses on mindfulness, each multi-media collage/painting is a non-linear story made of fragments sourced from cast off materials from the world around her that are manipulated and reassembled. The collaged paintings are colorful and expressive, featuring gestural strokes, mark-making and various found papers representing ephemeral thoughts, visions from dreams and experiences. Every ripple in the paper or the choice to use a variety of materials replicates life which is rarely black and white or uniform or void of texture.
Liv Dockerty
Lush in texture and dynamic in line, Liv Dockerty's paintings convey a feeling of movement and life. Concentrated patches of pigment seem to pulse with energy, while overlaid marks of contrasting hues squiggle and drip. Colors push against one another, swirling and gathering to create a sense of dimension and form. Dockerty achieves this tactility and depth by layering different styles of brushstrokes, and a wide range of markings can exist in a single work. Though abstract in composition, Dockerty's paintings are rich in content. Their associative titles, often referencing song lyrics, evoke narratives and emotions, while her bold palette invites the viewer to indulge in the sensual pleasure of colors artfully combined.
Erin Treacy
Erin Treacy creates vivid large-scale drawings, paintings, and three-dimensional sculptural assemblages, an artistic method she describes as a "tripod" of mediums. While all three forms are clearly informed by the others, each is particular in its realization. Treacy's drawings feature fantastical, amorphous figures that take inspiration from the natural world. Her fluid linework and vibrant color palette evoke flowers, fallen tree boughs, insects, and underwater crustacean. Each drawing blurs the figurative boundary between the imaginative and the organic world.
