Ruth Le Roux

Ruth Le Roux cultivated her painting practice in the creative environment of the San Francisco Bay Area and is currently based in South Africa. Her abstract paintings distill the essence of landscapes—mountains, rocks, plants, and water—into simplified forms that pulse with quiet energy. Drawing on a childhood spent hiking the mountains of Stellenbosch, South Africa, and years walking the trails of Marin Valley, California, her work reflects a deep attunement to place and presence. She pairs expressive color with meditative mark-making to create layered compositions that invite stillness and reflection.

Le Roux’s work has been featured in numerous publications, including Architectural Digest, and is held in private and public collections around the world. She has participated in exhibitions and residencies throughout the Bay Area. Her most recent exhibition was at RK Contemporary in Cape Town.
