NAVA Contemporary is pleased to present, A World Away, a group exhibition exploring art’s ability to transport us beyond the familiar. Featuring works by David Burdeny, Christine Flynn, Angela Hau, Anthony Lamb, Ruth Le Roux, and Patrick Sansone, the exhibition brings together paintings and photography that evoke the romance of the open road, the allure of distant places, and the quiet anticipation of what lies beyond.Travel is as much a state of mind as it is a change of place. A road stretching toward the horizon, a fleeting view through a window, an unfamiliar landscape, or the architecture of a distant city can awaken a sense of possibility and remind us of the pleasure of simply going somewhere. In Burdeny's and Flynn’s photographs, vast landscapes and faraway destinations are transformed into immersive encounters with place, inviting the viewer to linger within their scale, light, and silence. Hau approaches landscape and environment through more intimate perspectives, finding moments of beauty and discovery in the spaces we pass through. Lamb uses a more formal approach, evoking the shifting sensations of movement and place through color, light, and atmosphere, while Le Roux and Sansone offer their own interpretations of the spaces that surround us, transforming observations of the world into images that feel both immediate and imagined. The works in A World Away move between the recognizable and the unfamiliar, creating an itinerary without a fixed destination. In doing so, the exhibition invites viewers to surrender and, for a moment, let the artwork transport them somewhere else.
